Recycled Cardboard and paper prices are quite low for this reason we have to charge to remove your waste cardboard and paper the good news is we can do a collection for you at a better rate than general waste, Your waste paper and cardboard will also be 100 percent recycled.

For us to be able to collect your waste cardboard & paper at a discounted rate, you will need to have a van load that is just made up of clean paper and cardboard, no plastic or metal attachments etc.

If you have a large office to clear and you have the time to separate your waste cardboard and paper from the other waste then it would work out much more economical to do so.

It is possible that one day the cardboard and paper prices could rocket if that time ever comes, we would review our prices to collect your cardboard and paper waste and if the prices where high enough we would even consider doing that for free.

SELL YOUR SCRAP BY PARCEL

Selling scrap by parcel is a new idea I have come up with for customers who can not deliver to us and are too far for us to collect from.

I had this website built a while back http://www.ukscrapmetal.co.uk/ for customers wanting to try this new service.

Scrap by parcel is a bit similar to a postal gold service except the parcels are a lot bigger.

Please note this service would not be worthwhile for Ferrous metals like iron and steel or lower rate non -ferrous metals like aluminium, stainless steel.

All types of Copper, Brass, Gunmetal would work well using the"Scrap By Parcel" system.

I found a deal where UPS would collect and deliver a fairly large box 55cm Height 55cm Depth 55cm Width and weighing up to 70kg for around £28.

So let say you had 70kg of Dry Bright Copper, I would offer anything between £2.60-£3.00 per kg depending on the markets, So the value would be between £182-£210 after you have paid delivery £28 you would be left with £154-£182.

I'm not sure if any other companies are doing this service yet, maybe the bigger scrap dealers would not have the time for this, Maybe my company Wembley Recycling Ltd is the first company in the Uk to offer this service.

A butcher in Alperton has been ordered to pay more than £1,800 for illegally dumping his fridge on the street.

Sheraz Mohayudin of Gama Halal Meat Butchers in Ealing Road, was slapped with the £1,855.50 fine at Willesden Magistrates’ Court after it was proven that he illegally dumped a large commercial fridge on the street.

The fridge was found and reported to the council by Veolia, its waste and recycling contractor.

Dennis Lewis, waste enforcement manager at Brent Council, said: “Illegally dumped rubbish is a serious issue and once reported to the council we will take all necessary measures to investigate the incident and won’t hesitate to prosecute the offenders”.

Brent Council has launched a ‘love where you live’ campaign urging residents to report any instances of illegal dumping to improve their neighbourhoods.

Cllr Eleanor Southwood, Brent Council’s lead member for the environment, said: “Most residents in Brent ‘Love where they live’ and make an effort to keep their streets clean and green. That’s why it’s so upsetting when people illegally dump rubbish; it brings down the appearance of the area and everyone suffers.

“Individuals and businesses need to know that we’ll come down on them hard if they dump their rubbish like this.

“If you ‘Love where you live’, please report illegally dumping rubbish with our Cleaner Brent app or email customer.services@brent.gov.uk.”

Lichfield and Burntwood residents 

warned not to leave fridges and freezers 

out for scrap metal collectors

People living in Lichfield and Burntwood are being urged to dispose

of unwanted fridges and freezers correctly.

Lichfield District Council said there had been an increase in the amount

of white goods being left on pavements or dumped across the region.

The local authority said residents have been leaving items on the street for

 scrap metal traders to take away – but because scrap metal disposal centres

 are no longer allowed to accept these appliances, the council believes that

rogue scrap metal collectors are removing the parts that can be easily sold,

such as the condensers and motors, and leaving the remaining items or dumping them.

Councillor Iain Eadie, Cabinet member for waste management

at Lichfield District Council, said: “It’s really important that

everyone understands their responsibilities around disposing of

unwanted goods to avoid fly-tipping penalties.

“Since metal recycling centres stopped accepting fridges and freezers,

because of the need to deal with CFC gasses, we’ve noticed a sharp rise

in how many are being left across the district.

“This is why we’re encouraging everyone to take unwanted items to

Household Recycling Centres, or use registered waste carriers to take

them away, to make sure their property does not come back to haunt them.”

The council is warning residents that placing items on the street for collection

by scrap metal dealers is classed as fly-tipping and could lead to a fine or

court action.

Bulky items such as fridges and freezers, as well as furniture, can be disposed

of at Household Recycling Centres in Lichfield and Burntwood.

“We want to take this opportunity to remind local people that you need to

 make sure that if you pay someone to remove and dispose of any waste on

your behalf that they are registered with the Environment Agency as a

waste carrier,” added Cllr Eadie.

Lichfield District Council also offers a bulky waste collection service.

It costs £15 to have one item removed, with extra items costing £6.20 each.

A maximum of four items can be removed at a time. Discounts are available

for anyone claiming housing benefit.

I have found them quite useful for soaking up oil from an oil spillage.

Copper granules are small pieces of copper that are much easier to melt making it a lot cheaper

Please note if your using the copper granules for art projects etc, the granule sizes range from 10mm - 15mm also thickness of the copper granules can also very.

We used to make 1mm copper granules which is a popular size but it is a much slower process  so unfortunately we had to discontinue that line.

We do not Remove Safes for Free

We do not remove unwanted safes for free due to contamination safes are banned from scrap yards.

For large Safes we recommend using a specialist Safe company, For smaller Safes we can offer a waste removal service at a fair rate. 
Small safes should be about half the size of the one in the picture. 

The picture below is a perfect example of a large safe as mentioned you would need to contact a different company for this work.   

Most safes have a concrete lining this is to help make them fireproof and more secure, unfortunately that makes it a big problem to melt a safe down that's the reason as mentioned why safes are banned from scrap yards. 

Some safes are valuable and you may find a buyer on ebay it's always worth a try.
